Running errands around Kennett Square--7/24/05
Any errand is an excuse for a pleasant drive in and around Kennett Square. The road below is the "back way" into Kennett Square from our house, going down Wollaston Road toward Mill Road and the Red Clay Creek and then along Mill Road to State/Cypress in Kennett. This portion of the road cuts between fields of wheat and soybeans and has a row of trees along the eastern edge and a farm to the west, and it cuts through some dense trees ahead in an area that reminds me of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow when I drive through it during the fall. A good place to see deer, gray fox, red fox, and birds.
This historic home in Kennett is located right behind the post office and is actually being used as the borough's municipal building. I haven't been inside it yet, but will try to make a point of it someday.
This is a really old farmhouse in the Willowdale area near our house. If you're really observant, you can see that the house, originally of formal Georgian style (formal balance), has been added onto more than once on the left and once on the right. Both additions appear to have been done quite a long time ago. I think the owners have named the place Liondale Farm, and the field is planted in soybeans.
